We are thrilled to announce the addition of a brand-new honour to the Gold Medal Catering Awards line-up: “Kitchen Porter of the Year”.

Often described as the engine room of the kitchen, the Kitchen Porter is the heartbeat of any successful catering operation. This award has been specifically designed to shine a light on these unsung heroes. Our judges will be looking for an individual who demonstrates exceptional efficiency, an unwavering dedication to hygiene standards, and that indispensable, collaborative attitude that ensures a catering team operates safely and smoothly.

Could your Kitchen Porter be a winner?

We are looking for nominees who truly embody the spirit of the hospitality industry. The judging panel will evaluate candidates based on the following Judging Criteria:

  • Commitment to Operational Excellence: A strong recommendation from a Supervisor or Chef confirming the nominee’s dedication and their crucial role in the kitchen’s daily success.
  • Hygiene and Cleanliness Standards: Proven excellence in sanitation, pot washing, and strict compliance with all safety and hygiene regulations.
  • Efficiency and Organisational Skills: A demonstrated ability to manage workflow, organise stock, and meticulously maintain equipment.
  • Team Support and Positive Attitude: Clear examples of actions and an attitude that boost team morale and foster a positive, collaborative work environment.
  • Initiative and Proactiveness: Specific instances where the nominee identified and solved issues or suggested improvements without being prompted.

Entry Information 

Entries are now open until 3rd April 2026. There is no limit to the number of categories you may enter. To make it easier, we offer special entry packages of 5 categories per property for €100, or 10 categories per property for €200. Please note, each property should be entered and billed separately.
